In January of 2021 we took over to design and manufacture for “Umama” caffe branch (in Ilioupoli area), a big monastery table from wood and metal.
Periods:
- Designing: 15 days
- material research / cost estimates: 10 Days
- Manufacture: 90 days

The challenge:
Our client wanted an impressive big table for the main area of the outdoor which had to match perfectly with the existing aesthetics and decoration of the space.
The design and the result had to refer to a simple, ergonomically and functional solution but at the same time be impressive and unique so that the wooden surface can properly connect with the metal base.

The basic parameters of the project:
- Ten (10 cm) thickness of the wooden surface with a unique surface contour.
- How we could much and connect the upper wooden part with the metallic base in such a way in order to achieve a technically correct and aesthetically viable solution.
- Minimal design with simple forms.

Manufacture of the base:
The metallic base it was the result of a total handcrafted construction that lasted 3 months.
First, the parallelogram structures with specific side angles were made piece by piece and then joined with the 2 large corners on the front and back sides which were the main supports of the ergonomic support of the base.
