Table & Wall Clocks

Desk clocks – definition:

Table clocks, also known as frame clocks, are designed to be placed on a flat surface or on a shelf.

They are made in such a way that they are suitable for indoor spaces (home or office). They come in a variety of sizes, materials, styles and shapes for functional or decorative use. They usually come in traditional, modern, antique or contemporary design with solid structure and materials such as wood, plastic, metal, bronze, glass or aluminum.

Their movement is usually supported by three types of mechanisms: Quartz, mechanical or atomic and they are supported by a battery to be able to function. The table clock is a functional and elegant object th at can serve as a piece of decoration and an essential accessory for keeping track of time.

The first table clocks were invented in the 15th century and were mainly made of wood with simple mechanical movements. As technology advanced, table clocks became more complex, incorporating mechanisms that improved accuracy and allowed for more complex designs.

Table clocks have been an integral part of decorating a space for centuries. They don't only serve the practical purpose of telling time, but also add aesthetic value to the interior space where they are placed.

The first collection:

In 2015-2016, the first small collection of table clocks made of solid wood and metal was designed. In two of them, the illustration of the surfaces was done by the talented concept artist Yannis Kaiman who collaborated with Marios Design on this project.

Simple minimal solid wood

forms were combined with metal parts and accessories to create a first approach of different aesthetics to table clocks that function as a decoration proposal in a space.

In 2024-2025 this collection

will be developed and will include the following features:

- Solid wood in many types and finishes.
- Top quality mechanical movement watch movements.
- Design approach that will refer to small works of art.
- Metal components that will frame the function and ergonomics of the object.
- Brass parts will be combined in the overall construction.
- Themes that will determine aesthetics and design.

Large wall clocks

Definition:

A wall clock is a type of clock designed to be hung on a wall. Wall clocks are a popular choice for both homes and businesses as they provide a functional and decorative element to any space. They come in a wide variety of designs, ranging from simple and traditional to modern and highly decorative.

Design:

The design of a wall clock can vary greatly, depending on its style and purpose. Some wall clocks are designed to be highly decorative, with intricate patterns or designs on the face of the clock. Other wall clocks are designed to be more functional, with simple and easy-to-read numbers and markings.

One of the most popular designs for wall clocks is the traditional round shape. Round wall clocks come in a variety of sizes, from small and compact to large and imposing. Many round wall clocks have Roman numerals or traditional Arabic numerals and may have decorative elements such as ornate hands or beveled edges.

Another popular design for wall clocks is the square or rectangular shape. Square and rectangular wall clocks are often used in modern or contemporary spaces, as they have a sleek and minimal look. These clocks may have simple markings or no markings at all, relying on the position of the clock hands to indicate the time.

Wall clocks can also have more unique and creative designs. Some wall clocks are designed to look like vintage or antique clocks, with distressed finishes and ornate details. Others may have a specific theme or pattern, such as sports, music or nature.

There are even wall clocks designed to look like works of art, with bold colors and abstract designs.

Materials

Wall clocks can be made from a wide variety of materials, including metal, wood, plastic and glass. Metal wall clocks are often highly decorative, with intricate patterns or designs etched or carved into the metal. Wooden wall clocks can have a rustic or natural look and can have wood grain patterns or be painted in different colors. Glass wall clocks can have a sleek and modern look and can be engraved or engraved with decorative patterns or designs.

Usefulness:

Wall clocks can be used in a wide variety of settings, from homes and offices to schools and public spaces. In homes, wall clocks are often used as decorative elements in living rooms, bedrooms and kitchens. They can be used to add a touch of style to a room or to provide a functional and legible timekeeping solution.

In offices and businesses, wall clocks are often used to keep track of time and maintain a sense of order and structure. They can be used in waiting rooms, conference rooms and other public areas to provide a convenient and reliable timekeeping solution for both visitors and employees.

The first watches:

A. The first watch was designed in 2016.
Its design came about through a marriage of 10 different woods, (walnut, poplar and olive) geometric compositions and shapes. The whole construction is a play with wooden forms where each piece has its own distinct texture, lines and rosettes.

The individual design details and components of the watch compose harmoniously on the wooden canvas. To mark the time four bronze cones were used which were framed by round bronze circles. A curved form was carved around them that defines and identifies each marking, each having an opposite direction from the other.

To support the clock

an old-fashioned chain was used to connect aesthetically with the wooden body, which was reinforced to be able to withstand the heavy weight of the construction.

It is all handmade and like all the watches in the series, unique. An earthly approach to time that redefines the identity of space.

B. A large wall clock measuring 1.20 x 1.20m.

Designed and built for restaurants.
Its design was based on the decorative retro elements present in its interior, on the identity of its name and on the philosophy underlying the entire concept of the business.

Eight words that define the store's philosophy were chosen to be drawn on the watch. The four were placed in the center and the rest on the edges of the clock. Using a specific image from the store's catalog, we made an exact representation of it with metal and various other materials. The large metal hands in the center of the watch complement and complete our design composition.

C. Metal resin and gemstone wall clock

It was designed for a company reception area. Its design direction was based on the company's philosophy and the object of its work.

In 2025 - 2026 this collection will be developed and will include the following features:

- Top quality mechanical movement watch movements.
- Design art approach.
- Metal components that will frame the function and ergonomics of the object.
- Brass parts will be combined in the overall construction.
- Themes that will determine aesthetics and design.
